Arsenal’s hopes of reaching the Women’s Champions League group stage hang in the balance after a late equalizer by Ajax on Tuesday.
After battling for a goal, Arsenal were rewarded late on as Netherlands international Romee Leuchter leveled at 2-2.
Substitute Katie McCabe then scored the winning goal offside.
Jonas Eidevalle’s side must win in Amsterdam next week to secure a place in the group stage.
A tie would send the playoffs to overtime and possibly a penalty shootout.
Leuchter opened the scoring at Meadow Park after 17 minutes for Ajax, before Stina Blackstenius equalized six minutes later.
Blackstenius, who also scored on Friday 4-0 WSL win over Brightonhe scored with a volley after Rafaelle’s header bounced off the crossbar and fell to the Swedish striker.
After a poor first half for the home side, Arsenal took the lead after the break when captain Kim Little calmly scored from the penalty spot after Beth Mead was fouled by Soraya Verhoeven.
Despite the better chances, the Gunners failed to defend poorly and failed to clear their lines as Leuchter scored his second goal of the evening seven minutes from full time.
