Superstar couple Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady, who married in 2009, are going through a difficult time.
Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback who currently plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and his wife, Bündchen, a fashion model, are dealing with “marital issues,” according to a source close to the couple.
The two are currently “living separately,” another source close to Bündchen told CNN.
CNN has reached out to representatives for Brady and Bündchen.
Brady, 45, retired from the NFL in February, only to later reverse that decision. He took an 11-day leave of absence from practice in August to “deal with personal matters,” according to coach Todd Bowles.
In an interview with Elle magazine published this week, Bündchen, 42, said she was “concerned” about her husband’s return to the field after he initially retired last winter.
“It’s a very violent sport, and I have my own children and I would like him to be more present,” Bündchen told the publication. “I’ve certainly had those conversations with him over and over again. But at the end of the day, I think everyone has to make a decision that counts [them]. He must follow his joy, too.’
His “Let’s go!” podcast with co-host Jim Gray on Tuesday, Brady’s decades of playing in the NFL have had an impact on his priorities.
“I haven’t had a Christmas in 23 years and I haven’t had a Thanksgiving in 23 years, I haven’t celebrated a birthday with people who are born from August to the end of January. And I can’t be at funerals and I can’t be at weddings,” Brady told Gray. “I think there comes a point in your life where you say, ‘You know what? I’ve had enough and it’s time to move on, to move on to other parts of life.'”
